Australian Food Awards
Deeks submits three of our flagship loaves
This year, Deeks Health Foods submitted three of it’s flagship loaves to be pitted up against rival competitors in the Gluten Free space. Sadly, there is no ‘Grain Free’ category but hopefully in future years we can lobby the organisers of the program to include it. We have confidence that our grain free loaves will fair very well in this category as well.
The three loaves entered were: Quinoa Loaf, Banana Loaf and Banana Log.
Judging day was yesterday Monday the 18th of July. All submissions had to be in by 8am Monday morning ready for judging by 9am. My flight landed at 7:30 and I was in Melbourne traffic for what seemed like an eternity but I finally found the Melbourne Show Grounds. I asked for directions to Building 5 and traversed my way around the maze of mega structures and diligent workers operating their mechanical beasts with pin point precision. Gotta admire these guys. I found Building 5 and followed all the arrows from the front of the building to the side entrance. Thank you security guard for going out of your way to help me find the check-in point and for finding an unlocked toilet for me to use! Phew.
Results for the Australian Food Awards will be available in a day and publicly announced in three days. The official awards will be held in Melbourne in September this year. Wish us luck!
